MASSIVE NEWS! Coles is ending its partnership with Palantir, and it's thanks to shareholder power.

This Wednesday, Coles wrote to SIX to say that they will not be renewing their contract with Palantir and requested we withdraw our shareholder resolution. Which we were happy to do - a withdrawn resolution is a WINNING resolution!

Three years ago, Coles signed a contract to partner with Palantir to use their technology in its stores. This partnership has raised serious questions around data privacy, as we still don’t know what customer and employee data Palantir had access to.
This is the same company that has been criticized by the UN for profiting off Israel’s occupation of Palestine, through allegedly offering AI-assisted targeting systems to the IDF.
Palantir also faced criticism from Amnesty International for its contract with the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), arguing that the company is complicit in human rights violations by supporting ICE to run its detention and deportation operations.
That’s why we teamed up with progressive NGO GetUp!, who had gathered over 80,000 community members to sign a petition calling on Coles to terminate their partnership with Palatir.
Together with GetUp, and the support of a huge 189 shareholders, we filed a shareholder resolution to Coles’ 2026 AGM, to put pressure on the company to dump its partnership with Palantir, in front of investors and the media.
In the face of an approaching shareholder vote, and unprecedented community pressure, Coles has written to SIX stating that it has decided to not renew its contract with Palantir!
This win wouldn’t have been possible without the unprecedented shareholder and community pressure that has been put on Coles, and shows the potential that people and shareholders can have in pushing for change at big companies.
But the story most certainly won’t, and can’t, end here. Coles’ partnership with Palantir is just one example of the threats to our privacy that are being facilitated by big business. However, this shows that we can push back, and win.
